This article pointed out that the COVID-19 threats to people's health and the epidemic prevention and control is at a critical stage. Xi Jinping put forward, "as long as we work together with firm confidence to carry out scientific prevention and control under accurate policies, we will definitely prevent and control the COVID-19". In order to scientifically prevent and control the COVID-19, give full play to the role of the popular science and improve the scientificity and effectiveness of the epidemic prevention and control.

This article analyzed that the popular science is of important knowledge value, social value and cultural value during the epidemic prevention and control. To further improve the popular science and play the role of popular science during the epidemic prevention and control by promoting the effective connection of scientific research and popular science, establishing the intelligent popular science, and carrying out popular science by authoritative scientists. This article also put forward some suggestions on major investment by the government, insufficient popular science talents and close connection of popular science propaganda and new media.
