On October 25, the Beijing Planetarium held a celebration for the 580th anniversary of the founding of the Beijing Ancient Observatory and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Astronomical Society, recalling the 580 year history of the founding of the Beijing Ancient Observatory, praising the centenary of the Chinese Astronomical Society, and striving to continue the magnificent chapter of the development of astronomy.

The celebration was held at the Beijing Ancient Observatory in the form of offline and online. Heads of Chinese Association of Natural Science Museums, the Chinese Astronomical Society, National Astronomical Observatory, BJAST and other institutions attended the event and delivered speech. Leaders, famous experts and scholars from scientific research institutes and universities were invited to join in the event. The event was hosted by Wang Xiaofeng, curator of the Beijing Planetarium, and addressed by Cheng Donghong, Jing Yipeng, and Wu Jianmin respectively.

At the important historical node of the 580th anniversary of the establishment of the Beijing Ancient Observatory and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Astronomical Society, the celebration is of great historical significance in preparing this commemoration.
