At the time of the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange, co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, was held in Chongqing, China, from November 6 to 7, 2023. Zhang Shiyun, a researcher at the Institute of Science and Technology Information of the BJAST, was invited by the Preparatory Committee to participate in the Open Science Roundtable. Focusing on the theme of Breaking through Open Science Barriers and Promoting Scientific and Technological Exchanges and Cooperation, the seminar centered on How to Break Down Barriers to Knowledge Access? How to build an open science infrastructure? and other issues for exchange and discussion.

Zhang Shiyun introduced the specific progress of Beijing in promoting the practice of open science. Beijing has taken open science as the starting point for promoting the international science and technology innovation center, held the Zhongguancun Parallel Forum on Open Science for two consecutive years, and established the Open Science International Innovation Alliance, which now has 33 member units. At the same time, the government is actively promoting the construction of an open science platform, and the Beijing Academy of Science and Technology is also building an integrated open science service platform in Beijing.

Zhang Shiyun proposed that the main task of Beijing's open science in the next step is to use international and domestic resources, especially Beijing's high-end scientific and technological resources, to realize the construction of Beijing's scientific research ecosystem. Finally, he hopes to jointly design better education courses with representatives of participating countries, and invites Belt and Road countries to join the Zhongguancun Open Science Alliance to jointly carry out international exchanges and cooperation.
