• The 2nd Beijing International Milu Culture Conference Was Held in the Beijing Milu Ecological Research Center

  • On August 24, an opening ceremony for the 2nd Beijing International Milu Culture Conference was held in the Beijing Milu Ecological Research Center. Jia Jiansheng, Inspector of the Department of Wildlife Conservation of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Shao Heng, Director of Daxing District People's Congress, Guo Guangsheng, President of the BJAST, and Shao Jinwen, Vice President of the BJAST, attended the conference.

    At the conference, China’s first Ecological Museum Project of indoor and outdoor integration was officially released to the public, the world’s first Milu Conservation League was formally established, and the permanent theme exhibition of “Milu Returning to the East” was opened to the public for the first time. The Beijing Milu Ecological Research Center presented 70 milu to Zhangjiakou City, and a series of important contents such as “Outstanding Contributors to Milu Conservation” and so on were released, which have fully demonstrated China's model for wildlife conservation and drew a new blueprint for ecology.

    Guo Guangsheng said in his speech that he would take this conference as an opportunity to launch a series of important measures to implement the protection of milu, and put forward new requirements for the protection of milu from the aspects of adhering to ecological priority, basing on scientific and technological innovation, and strengthening cultural confidence. The conference received the attention and support of director Wu Jing, host Wang Han, actor Gao Ming and academician Wei Fuwen of Chinese Academy of Sciences. They called for joint protection of milu, promotion of milu culture construction, and congratulated on the smooth convening of the conference. Besides, they would guide more people to pay attention to milu, and jointly participate in the team of milu protection and milu culture transmission.

    A series of measures to protect milu were announced at the conference. First, the BJAST will jointly establish the “Milu Conservation League” with the Daxing District Government, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and other domestic and foreign professional forces in milu research and conservation. Second, the Beijing Milu Ecological Research Center has set up the “Milu Monitoring and Research Laboratory” throughout the country. Third, the construction plan of the Beijing Ecological Museum was officially released. At the same time, experts and scholars have conducted in-depth discussions from various angles, systematically combing the current situation and achievements of milu protection and biodiversity protection, and providing guidance and direction for the next step of milu protection.
